The Youngsters Are Gone! Now What??

Surprise! Surpise! Michael Jackson week of X-Factor USA season one led to the elimination of my personal picks! Astro and Drew are no more.

After publishing my last X-Factor hub about who it was I thought could or better yet should be in the running to win the show, my top two picks, Drew and Astro were voted off! One stealth swoop and they were gone. As a commentator noted, my prediction was wrong. Well, it wasn't really a prediction, but rather an opinion as it related to the talent pool on the show. These young kids were really talented but as I did state, one of them was at great risk for elimination simply based on the song choices of her mentor.

Sadly, this reminds me greatly of when Jennifer Hudson was eliminated on American Idol. I knew that she had left far too soon, just as Chris Daughtry was eliminated too soon from season five of American Idol --each of them were once my top picks. That being said, I suspect we will see these kids again in some capacity.

Now, with these two gone, I echo my previous comments --its anyone's show. Personally, I am hoping someone brings a wow-factor to the remaining shows. While each of them are talented, only little Rachel Crow has actually wowed me in past performances. I am a fan of Marcus Canty, but his run in the bottom two for the last few weeks puts him at a greater risk of going home should he receive another poor round of votes.

As I "predicted" about Drew in my last X-Factor Hub, I fear that Chris Rene, my other pick of the remaining group could lose a bit of traction simply because of redundancy in his performances should he dare to infuse another run of reggae-pop into his tune. Hopefully, LA Reid was taking notes and will heed his own advice and break the monotony for Mr.Rene. This guy has got great energy and an inspiring story, but he'll need to change it up in order to not lose a few votes and suffer the same fate as young Drew.

Melanie Amaro...still not sure of how to feel about her voice. She's good...but what is she musically? With Drew gone, hopefully Simon will bring her into the Millenium and focus his efforts. Has she sang a song from this decade yet?

Finally, Josh Krajcik...I don't know why...but I appreciate his talent. Perhaps it's because he knows who he is and what he wants to do musically. One has to appreciate that. I'm not sure if he'll win, but if he does...I'll be okay with it.

Stay tuned...
